About

Farmer's Photography is Melanie Farmer, photographing weddings, couples, families, newborns and seniors across Chattanooga, Tennessee and well beyond it.

Your lifetime photographer

I grew up around cameras. My mum was the one quietly taking candids from the edge of every room, my dad worked in film, and somewhere between the two of them I ended up doing both: the posed portrait you will put on the wall, and the unguarded half-second either side of it that you did not know was being taken.

What I am really after is something closer to a film still than a photograph. Real light, real colour, and people who look like themselves rather than like people being photographed. Most of that comes down to how the session feels, so I spend as much effort on making you comfortable as I do on anything technical.

I called it lifetime photography because that is genuinely how it has gone. I photograph the proposal, then the wedding, then the bump, then the baby, then the same child in a cap and gown. Come back as often as you like. I am here for whichever season you are in.

Dates open up a season at a time, and weddings tend to go first. If you have one in mind, say hello early.
